Privacy Policy

Your data, plainly explained.

This describes what FitByte collects when you track your meals and water, why, and how to delete it whenever you want.

The short version

01

Information we collect

To run your account and let you track your nutrition, we collect:

  • Account info: the email address and password you sign up with. Firebase Authentication handles this, and we never see your password in plain text.
  • Food and hydration logs: meals you log by photo, barcode or text, with calories, macros, quantities and timestamps.
  • Meal photos: images you capture for AI scanning, sent for analysis as described in section 3.
  • Goals and preferences: the calorie, macro and water targets you set.
  • Usage analytics: which features you use and how often, through Firebase Analytics, so we know what to fix or improve.
  • Subscription status: whether you have FitByte Premium, managed entirely by Apple's App Store. We never receive or store your card details.
02

How we use it

Your data is used only to operate and improve FitByte:

  • Identifying food and calculating nutrition from your photos, barcodes and descriptions.
  • Syncing your logs, streaks and achievements across sessions.
  • Sending hydration reminders and other notifications you've turned on.
  • Generating your weekly progress insights and charts.
  • Diagnosing bugs and understanding which features are actually useful.

We do not use your food or health data for advertising, and we do not build ad-targeting profiles from it.

03

Third-party services

FitByte relies on a small number of external services. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job:

We do not sell your data to anyone, and none of these partners may use your data for their own advertising.

04

Storage and security

Your data is stored on Firebase infrastructure (Google Cloud) and sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. Firebase security rules limit database access to your own account. Other users cannot read your logs, and neither can we, except when debugging a support request you've sent us.

05

Your choices and rights

  • Edit or correct any logged meal, goal or profile detail directly in the app.
  • Export your full nutrition history as CSV (Premium).
  • Turn off notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → FitByte.
  • Delete your account as described in section 6.
06

Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, so your history and streaks stay intact. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us at the address below. Deletion removes your logs, goals and account record from our systems within 30 days.

07

Children's privacy

FitByte is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

08

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, let you know inside the app.
